Nidal Sliman, Ph.D.
Advocacy Officer

Dr. Sliman specializes in international human rights law including property and land law, land rights, remedies, rule of law, legal reforms, conflict resolution, and comparative law. He has worked for the World Bank, Haifa University and the University of Notre Dame Law School. In addition, Dr. Sliman worked as parliamentary assistant for more than three years before joining the law firm of Mo’en Khoury in Jerusalem, where he worked for more than six years as an attorney specializing in property and land law, and represented ecclesiastical, domestic, international and NGO clients. In addition, Dr. Sliman worked pro bono on human rights cases and matters of constitutional significance.

Dr. Sliman received his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) and Master of Laws (LL.M.) degrees from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1996 and 1999, respectively. In May of 2008, Dr. Sliman received his Doctor of Juridical Science degree (J.S.D.) summa cum laude in international human rights law from the University of Notre Dame Law School. Dr. Sliman worked and is published in the area of domestic and international law, and his dissertation is specifically focused on reparations for colonial takings, land reform in Zimbabwe and South Africa. Dr. Sliman is the recipient of the US Department of State merit-based Israeli-Arab Scholarship (2002), and he is fluent in Arabic, Hebrew and English.
